Who is this consultation for?
+
Anyone about to spend real money on dirt: homeowners, contractors, developers, industrial site owners, and heavy civil or bridge teams. If you’re about to order material, hire trucks, or approve a sitework scope, it’s for you.
Can you help if I already have a contractor?
+
Yes. Many clients use us as a second opinion on the contractor’s material, quantity, or haul plan before signing off. We give practical input. We’re not there to take over the job.
Can you review photos or plans?
+
Yes. Text photos, plan sheets, or scope notes to (469) 253-2403, or tell us in the form and we’ll ask for them. Photos with a tape measure in frame help.
Do you tell me exactly how much dirt I need?
+
On consults, we give rough quantity guidance from your dimensions, plans, or photos, including compaction allowance, so you order close to right. Ongoing Dirt Advisor clients and commercial custom projects get full takeoffs from their site plans. Either way these are planning and ordering quantities, not a stamped survey. Where a number has to hold up contractually, your surveyor or engineer of record has the final say.
How do site plan takeoffs work?
+
Included with the Ongoing Dirt Advisor plan and available on commercial custom projects. Email your site plans (PDF or CAD) to support@filldirtnearme.net, or text them if they’re small. We run cut/fill and material takeoffs in takeoff software and send back quantities by material, with notes on truck counts and sequencing.
When do I need structural fill instead of regular fill dirt?
+
Usually anywhere something gets built on it or it has to carry load: slabs, pads, footings, driveways, and wall backfill. Regular fill works for low spots and general grading. When a geotechnical report or engineer specifies material, that spec wins. We help you source and plan around it.
Can you help with bridge or heavy civil jobs?
+
Yes, on the practical side: fill coordination, haul strategy, quantity checks, and sequencing. We are not the engineer of record and don’t provide geotechnical or structural design. We help teams execute the dirt scope efficiently and avoid overspend.
How much does an earthwork takeoff cost?
+
Site plan takeoffs are included with the Ongoing Dirt Advisor plan at $1,500/month, which suits developers and contractors with steady work. A one-off commercial takeoff is quoted to scope once we see the plan set.
Can someone do a cut and fill takeoff from my site plans?
+
Yes. Upload grading plans as PDF or CAD with the form on this page. We run cut/fill and material takeoffs in takeoff software and send back quantities by material, with truck counts and haul sequence notes.
How many truckloads of dirt will my project take?
+
Divide the delivered yards by the truck size: about 10–12 yards per tandem, 14–16 per tri-axle, and around 18 per end dump. Delivered yards should include compaction allowance, usually 15–25% over the in-place volume. Access decides which trucks you can use, so we check it before we count loads.
What areas do you cover?
+
Consults by phone and text anywhere. Our delivery experience is local to Dallas-Fort Worth, San Antonio, Denver and the Front Range, Atlanta, Charlotte, Raleigh-Durham, Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa Bay, and that’s where our material and trucking advice is sharpest.
Is the consultation fee credited toward delivery?
+
Ask when you book. It depends on the package and the size of the order that follows.
Do you work with commercial and industrial sites?
+
Yes. Owner-side review for new facilities and expansions is one of the most useful places for a second opinion, because owners usually can’t easily check a dirt scope on their own.
What if I only need a fast second opinion?
+
That’s the $150 Quick Consult. Text the address, what you’re doing, and what you’ve been told to (469) 253-2403, and we’ll tell you whether it sounds right.
